What people don’t realize about black mould is that it is everywhere! It lies in wait so to speak waiting for the perfect conditions. Most mould you find in your home will have had its spores there from the creation of the home.
The spores are incredibly difficult and time consuming to remove as they are almost invisible. In their dormant form the spores cannot harm you because there is such a small quantity. You do however need to be fully aware of the conditions which cause spores to develop into mould.
Black mould needs low light and moisture in order to grow, humidity levels and water leaks can create these perfect conditions. It is also worth noting that mould can develop on any surface at all. One of the first indicators of mould being in existence in your home is the presence of a musky smell, this is the first sign that you need to get it treated.
High humidity can be caused by many things. Poor ventilation is one such reason. Even everyday activities you do will cause much moisture to enter your home. Not moping up a water spill or just drying clothing inside your home can cause excess moisture to build. They all can cause hundreds or thousands of dollars of damage to your house not to mention a ton of work.
Leaks can also cause black mould to ravage your home. Water emergencies are generally described as being leaks or plumbing emergencies. The sooner you treat these problems, the better.
Black mould can also be extremely damaging to your health. The main issue it can cause is asthma.
